Blackwater Blues: A Story of Triumph and Collaboration

Project History:

“Blackwater Blues,” a project that began as a dream supported by Corin Nemec and Jason London, has now evolved into a remarkable success story in the independent television industry. This journey, marked by community support and creative resilience, has led to the production of a pilot that has not only been shot and edited but has also garnered over 30 wins in various festivals.

The pilot short, a testament to the project’s excellence, was directed by Steven Wise, the leading force behind our production partner, “Reality Check Entertainment.” This collaboration played a pivotal role in bringing the vision of “Blackwater Blues” to life.

In the face of early financial challenges, where a crucial portion of funding was lost just before the scheduled start of principal photography, the team demonstrated unwavering determination. The production, initially bolstered by personal investments and the enthusiastic support of the Ocean Springs community; special thanks to Bo Bogard, including local filmmakers, actors, and shop owners, found its way through these challenges.

The resilience of the production team, led by Nemec and  Easterday, and local co-producer Brad Jay, was instrumental in overcoming these hurdles. Their decision to create a short version of the pilot to maintain momentum and attract further funding proved to be a successful strategy, reminiscent of Corin Nemec’s previous success with the pilot presentation of “STAR-VING.”

Today, “Blackwater Blues” is being pitched as well has an assigned Director as well network focused production team executives at the helm.  Blackmudd Production LLC has expanded its horizons with the establishment of a new subdivision, Blackmudd Entertainment, dedicated to all aspects of film production. This expansion reflects the growth and evolution of the project as well as the interests Blackmudd continues to work towards as a community member.

Corin Nemec, alongside partners Benjamin Easterday, Bo Bogard, and John Reed, continues to drive the project forward. Their collective vision and commitment have not only seen the successful creation of the “Blackwater Blues” pilot but have also set the stage for future endeavors under the banner of Blackmudd Entertainment.

As “Blackwater Blues” continues to receive accolades and recognition, it remains a shining example of what can be achieved through passion, collaboration, and community support in the world of independent television production.
